Colin Howard has over 29 years’ experience in the commercials production industry. Straight out of school in the late 1980s, he started work as a PA at a production house but soon began to climb the production ranks, eventually producing for the legendary Keith Rose in the mid-90s and then joining Egg Films as a partner in 2000. Colin has produced commercials in 22 countries around the world, is a long-standing EXCO member of The Commercial Producers Association, sat on the board of The Loerie Advertising Awards and is the current Chairman of FIVA.
As one of Egg Films’ majority shareholders as well as its managing director and executive producer, Colin has established Egg Films as the industry leader in Africa. Not only does its awards cabinet hold six Grand Prixs and 46 Golds from The Loerie Advertising Awards, there’s South Africa’s first Grand LIA, and Golds and Grand Prix at Cannes Lions, the Clios, New York International and the Andy Awards. The influential Gunn Report ‘Most Awarded Production Companies in the World’ supplement also regularly features the company.
More recently, Egg Films has cemented its reputation for music videos. Many have gone viral; in fact, those produced for Skrillex, Die Antwoord, Nasty C, Ricky Rick and Cassper Nyovest have achieved over 300-million views on YouTube alone. Others have garnered awards; like Skrillex Ragga Bomb which was named Best Music Video at the One Screen Awards. The Absolut One Source music video picked up Gold, 2 Silver & a bronze at Cannes Lions 2017 in the Entertainment category as well as 3 Golds at the Loeries.
Building on this success, Colin co-founded Arcade Content in late 2014 to produce content that fell outside the realm of TV commercials, including brand films, web series, music videos, documentaries and more. In just two years, Arcade Content had notched up an impressive scorecard including a Creative Circle Ad of the Year, an African Leadership Grand Prix at the African Cristal Festival, a Black Spear at The Assegai Awards, nine Gold Midas Awards, two Gold Bookmarks, two Gold Loeries and a Bronze at Cannes Lions.
